Power Flushing
Power Flush
A Kamco power flushing unit is used to clean a central heating system, the power flush machine is normally connected at the pump isolation valves. The powerful flow and reverse flow of the unit will dislodge and mobilise radiator sludge deposits and corrosion debris.
To assist this process, specialist Sentinal or Fernox non acidic chemicals are introduced to loosen deposits and hold them in suspension. Care needs to be taken to use the correct chemical for the type of material used to manufacture the heat exchanger.
When the deposits are free flowing they are dumped to waste by the unit as this happens fresh clean water is being introduced thus flushing the system. Radiators are left in position but isolated and flushed one at a time. A vibrating tool is used to loosen debris and sludge build up in the radiator.
Test are carried out to ensure the cleanliness of the system water, when clean a corrosion inhibitor is added to further prolong the life of the heating system.
Magnetic Power Flush Filter
The powerful rare earth magnet power flush filter, removes the suspended black iron oxide contamination from the flushing water. Even the smallest of particles are attracted to the high power magnet.
The removal of suspended debris ensures a more effective power flush, this can reduce the quantity of chemicals required. A further benefit, is less disruption to the householder, due to shorter flushing time.
Cost
Prices vary depending on the size and type of central heating system, but
an example would be: - for 8 radiators with 15mm valves and an open vented
boiler, would be £400
including the appropriate chemicals (currently half price £199 when
carried out with the replacement of a boiler)
